3 years ago by reneecutaiaolson Book 10: The Light We Lost This book got rave reviews- but I didn't love it. It's the story of a tumultuous romance that ends after a couple years, and the main character, Lucy, moving on in some ways but always being connected to her first love, Gabe. Gabe is terribly selfish, but I actually think Lucy is just as selfish, and I didn't find their love romantic at all. She's constantly comparing Gabe to her other relationship in ways I didn't feel were fair, and she rarely spoke up for herself, instead just expected people to be mind readers…
3 years ago by reneecutaiaolson Book 9: "What Alice Forgot" - Alice falls off a spin bike at the gym and hits her head. When she wakes up She's forgotten 10 years of her life somehow, and sadly discovers she isn't 29, newly pregnant and in love with her husband, but 39 with 3 children she doesn't remember and in the middle of a nasty divorce. I really liked this book, and following her journey to balance who she was with who she is now. Thanks to @aliciaameyer for the suggestion (PS- this is the same author as #biglittlelies ) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3 years ago by reneecutaiaolson Books # 7-8: the Thousandth Floor & Dazzling Heights. These are both in a 3 part YA series about futuristic New York Teenagers in 2118 who live in a 1000 floor building called the Tower. It's basically Gossip Girl in the future- lots of drama, relationships, secrets, extravagant parties, and the juxtaposition of the lower class teens who live on lower floors. Definitely not life changing literature, but They were easy, fun reads. The third book comes out this summer and I'll definitely be reading it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
